Memory painting of approaching VSEL's ship number 1103 during contractors sea trials off the Isle of Bute, Scotland. I was an assistant shipyard manager helping ship manager Pete Jevons and our skilled team to sort out problems during trials and list agreed defects to correct on return to Barrow shipyard. This was my first time aboard the submarine at sea and my first (and last) dive on any submarine. I slept in the torpedo room! Tireless is now approaching the end of her Royal Navy commission after 29 years of mysterious Cold War operations including a break through in the arctic sea ice.
