Sea Paintings

white cruise ship 1 (2015)
Oil and Acrylic on canvas 1500. 102cm x 76cm.

Unframed. Deep sides painted grey-green. Based on a drawing made in 1994 on the Durham coast. The setting for this painting is Cumbrian west coast overlooking the Isle of Man with a modern white cruise ship edging along the horizon on a late summer's evening. A man jogs with his dog along the beach whilst a large Landrover drives along the opposite direction. I used to design cruise liners when I was a teenager so this one is also my design rather than an actual named ship.0

White Cruise Ship 2 (2015)
Oil and Acrylic on canvas 1300. 71cm x 91cm.

Unframed with grey painted sides. The location is imaginary though inspired by the tidal race between Bardsey Island and the coast near Aberdaron in North Wales. I used to design cruise liners when I was a teenager so this one is also my design rather than an actual named ship.0

Burial by the Sea (2014)
acrylic on canvas. 76cm x 61cm.

Based on the scattering of my father's ashes at high water in Abersoch bay, North Wales.0
